A social media app is launching a change to its ‘Trending’ product. Because of the Google Play store release schedule, they have to launch the product change on their Android app before we launch the change on iPhone.
The questions:
- 1) Use the attached dataset which shows daily ‘Trending’ revenue for iPhone and Android, daily active users, and average user age to calculate incremental revenue attributable to the product change. The change occurred for Android only on 2/1/2015. Your incremental revenue estimate should show what the total revenue change is attributable to the product launch between 2/1/2015 – 2/10/2015.
- 2) Based on your answer above, estimate what total incremental revenue it would drive if we had launched the same product change on iPhone, between 2/1/2015 – 2/10/2015.
- 3) Provide a confidence interval and measure(s) of statistical significance for your responses.
The project:
- Summarize your findings in slides.
- Please clearly show and notate all supporting calculations in your revenue model (e.g., be sure to include any charts, graphs, equations, etc. that you come up with as you work through the problem).
- Please complete in R or Python or similar scripting language and also provide any code you write to complete the case study.
- If something is unclear, make a note of the assumptions you are making.
- If you have additional ideas but did not have time to implement them, feel free to add bullets/notes describing what you would do given more time.
- Bonus points if you use more than one methodology to triangulate the answer.
